Pet Peeve - total disregard for basic English

My grammar, spelling, and use of punctuation are far from perfect. But how illiterate do you have to be to not understand the difference between the meaning of the word "no" and the word "know"? If people learning ESL can make that distinction then why not people who speak EFL?
