I echo your frustration gudnite. While i have only had 1 experience with an SP personally (jessica you were absolutely great btw). In my professional life i have to see them regularly. Those that are SP's, strippers, MPA's. There are so many layers to pimps/managers. It starts with traffiking. Pushing women or girls (under 18) into having sex for money and then the pimp keeping them impoverished or substance addicted so that they spiral down a hole where it is damn near impossible to recover from. This leads to suicide or murder (made to look like suicide).
I could spend a great deal of time talking about this as i am extremely frustrated by it.
However in my mind it is primarily a economic issue. Certain people are just okay making money off the toils of other peoples labour, in many respects no different than any other legitimate business. However, in legitmate business you have a choice, work for someone else under fair labour laws, or start your own business and adhere to the law. Now that being said we are dealing with a very grey area legally. I am very hopeful that the supreme court strikes down the solicitation laws so the we bring this out of the shadows and make it safer for the ladies (and men) who work in this profession. I have had first hand dealings with LE who were extremely unsympathetic towards SP's who were injured or killed by thier pimps/johns. One going so far as "well it was only a matter of time, she knew what she was getting into".
I have been at CB in brampton and seen a few pimps. I just don't get it (acutally i do which makes it worse). The amount of psychological abuse, physical abuse that goes on is enough to crack most sane people. I have even seen several "stockholm syndrome" type cases where they are truely enamoured with thier pimp.
At the end of the day again it is simple economics. If we wish to keep the good independents that we have then we need to support them and make it fiscally viable for them to remain independent and profitable. The pimps will still remain as they have a dedicated buying group, be it gangs, organized crime, substance abusers. I wonder are there any good pimps out there? I ask the question seriously. Perhaps they take a very small cut and do treat the people that work for them with dignity and respect and ensure they are protected. I doubt it. But there are always exceptions to the rule.
obviously this just my opinion flavoured with some life experience. Like it or hate it. Just don't flame it.
peace.
