Pissed off at telemarketers

I've been called three times today by different telemarketers who want to ask me personal questions about my income and my habits.

However, they won't tell me on whose behalf they are calling, where they got my number, or how this information will be used. I find this offensive.

Why should I answer personal questions from a stranger who won't even give me their name?

other than that, tell them to go f%$K themselves.

most telemarketers seem to be con artists...

I saw commercial on TV, they invented something that you connect to your line and it cut off all the telemarketing calls you get.
I don’t know if it works or not buy maybe it could help you?
Anyone knows something about it?

I have heard it works. Most telemarketing calls are done by computer & a live person comes on the line when you answer. This device sends a signal back to the calling computer telling it that the line is not in service. Telemarketers always tell you who they are etc. so I would be very wary of anyone who wants info but won't give you any.

I had a telemarketer call me trying to sell one of these devices.

I always ask them for their address, their name, and their supervisors name, and I tell them that talking to me is not free and that I will time the call and send them an invoice. They are usually not authorized to pay me

When they call, sound lonely and ask them if they believe in God. Have they pondered why He placed us on this earth? Have they truely fulfilled His mission for us?

Or sound insanely pleased that they called because "have I got just the thing for you! It slices, it dices, it cuts all your fruits and vegetables with that oh so professional look! And if I can just take one more minute of you time, I can tell you that if you say yes now, not only is it no money down, but you also get, free of charge ..."

Or you can pull the "no speaka da eengleesh" which is certainly true for enough people in this town.

Or you can just very gently hang up.

My Phone Telemarketers Response

I can handle the phone telemarketers .
When they call and say "hello is this the man of the house?". I give them the
" ok now lets analyze how you got here. So you woke up one morning and said , my life is a pathetic waste, and you looked throught the want ads and went directly to the lloser ads. You already tried the get rich schemes, Amway, hearbalife, Start your own Porn Compnay, Sell Burial Plots on the Moon, Become a overnight Tycoon, Work from home (and you lost $30.00 )
and now you come to, Be a telemarketer.
One step away from a collection agent.

So now you want to sell me something.
Its really no use, friend, can I call you friend. Life is really over when you reach these ads. maybe you could try door to door vacuum cleaners, thats your next step. and you have to bring a bag of your own dirt.

at this time I usually hear a hang up or gun going off, or a window opening and a falling person yelling "noooooooooooooooooo!!!"

My contribution to society. Thank you.
I can handle those calls.

What I can't handle is the 6:AM knock at trhe door of those people who try to sell you Shampoo. You know those annoying happy idiots from The Cult of "JoJoba's Witness"

the best thing to do with telemarketers is just say "can you hold on a second please?" put the phone down and walk away. Come back a minute or 2 later and see if they are still there. If they are, do it again. Keep doing this until they hang up. They will red flag your number and leave you alone.
Alternatively, you could do what this guy does www.jimflorentine.com and have fun with them.

With the telemarketers I tell them to hang on while I get my wife and then hang up the phone 1/2 hr. later(no wife).With the YEEHOBAHS,I usually thank them for their offer but decline telling them that I'm a recently born again Pagan.

If it is a man (usually it is) ask to speak with a woman and then try to ask her personnal questions about her sex Life.....she usually hangs up.

One Bitch held me 30minutes though. She was playing along and fucked me around!! Can't win'em all....

Apparently you can duplicate the telemarketer 'zapper' device for free.

I haven't tried it, but here's a link:

Apparently you can duplicate the 3 tone signal sent out before the bell voice says 'I'm sorry, this number is not in service'. The telemarketing calls are mostly dialed by computer, so when it hears the tone, it just disconnects. Presto!
