Another post got me thinking ...

If you had the money to make a sequel to Pretty Woman - how would it go ...? (And I know most sequels are lame ...)

I wouldn't make one.

SP movies are only OK the first time around, if that.

Nowadays, it's only good as a minor aspect of the story, like in Saw 4.

These days, a movie solely about SPs and the topic of SPs is just going to go straight to the Lifetime Channel, IMHO.

....Edwards fear of heights makes for him and Vivian to take a cruise around the world, and George from Seinfeld can't even get a job at Burger King after the report Edward puts in his personal file.

In other words, there isn't much to go on to make a sequel imho, as heart warming as the film was for some.

Hmmmm

In part 2 I'd start it off with Richard Gere writing a review on Julia Roberts on the local escort review board under his handle Gerbil_Man. His review would say that he fiiiinally TOFTT with the red head street walker aka Million_Dollar_Mouth that everyones been meaning to try but were scared it was a b&s. The next day he notices veteran members of that board replying to his post by placing strategically placed single letters followed by multiple periods .e.g.

S........

A few posts later understanding members of that board would advise Gerbil_Man to not take the attacks personal. They would also mention that some of the members are only accusing him of shilling due to the fact that he only has 3 posts.

GM then trys to sell his laptop in the buy&sell section on the review board but is met with members hijacking his thread insisting you could buy a better pc on craigslist for less. Before GM could finish typing his response to these accusations his o/s Vista would show a "new update install request" pop-up then freeze up..

As much as it's a chick flick and ruined life for us common men, Pretty Woman is an all time classic that can only be ruined by producing a sequel.

IMO it is one of the best movies ever made. It wasn't over acted, wasn't cheesy, was heart warming, funny, a little sexy and just an all around great movie.

As we all too often see: a sequel doesn't even come close to the original.

BUT, just thinking outloud, a sequel could go along the lines of:

They are 10 yrs into their marriage and have a girl, the girl is just hitting pubert and the topic comes up about how they met. Mom tells the truth and the girl starts freaking out and tells everyone. Puts strain on the marriage, a breakup insues, Richard Gere has to find Julia Roberts and chastises all the other "rich couples" who looked down on Julia for what she did, and they live happily ever after.

A few of the topics which plague many sps could be brought out and discussed in a mature manner. Things such as:
1) She may have been an escort but she never sucked on the public teat.
2) She was independant and never relied on any one else to support her
3) Also the topic of who her clients were could be brought up to dissuade the stereotype

Etc etc etc.

The couple get married. They move to NYC. Husband get into politics.

Husband gets elected to governor of the state. Runs a campaign of get tough on government corruption. He finds he can't beat his addiction to SPs. He talks to his wife who's friend from LA is now running an high price agency in NYC, the friend hooks him with some nice young talent.

Jason Alexander has fallen on hard times and is now the agency driver. He recognizes his former friend and exposes the governor for using SPs. The husband resigns, the couple decide to stand together in face of controversy...

Yes, but then we end up seeing the movie while getting a BJ, and it softens up figuring out our idea was taken... TERB to the rescue.
