Albert Pujols has agreed to a 10-year deal for at least $250 million with the Los Angeles Angels, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Thursday.

The deal includes a full no-trade clause, which Pujols had been seeking and may have been a sticking point in his negotiations with the Miami Marlins.

So predictable.

It was down to Cubs, Marlins and Cards.
Then it was Marlins and Cards.
And of this morning it was close with the Cards but maybe the Cubs.

What was predictable is that the rumors were wrong from the get-go to the end. Experts and insiders. Pfft. They all know shit.

On a positive note, it will be nice to have him in the AL and get to see him more frequently. And as for the length of the contract, it at least makes more sense for an AL (DH) team who can squeeze some extra years out of him. All those other teams were NL.

His stats were not near his personal bests, mainly due to a horrendous start, but still ranked high in relation to the league. As well, once you add on a WS ring, it is hard to say it was close to his worst season.

Keep in mind this is not strictly a baseball deal: the Angels just became far more attractive to the Latin community by signing the biggest Latin star. I would love to see numbers on how valuable he proves to be in that regard.

Pujols deserves it. He's a great guy, does a ton of charity work and in my opinion is the best player in baseball. I think he can play at a high level for at least another 7 years.
