Ok ye Terb-techno wizards. I need help (seriously)
I just downloaded the current freeware version of realplayer 10-5Gold
Now whenever I go to play a video, it connects me to their website & asks for a credit card # to verify my age. WTF!
Any ideas on how to fix this. I have no intention of giving my #.

1. PAYMENT & SERVICES.

Following the expiration of a trial period that may be provided to you in the sole discretion of RealNetworks, you agree to pay RealNetworks the monthly service charges for your use of the Services using a valid credit card, plus any applicable taxes, in accordance with the billing terms and prices in effect at the time the fee or charge becomes payable. You authorize RN to automatically bill the charge card you provide each month, or withdraw funds via electronic transfer from your checking account (depending on what type of charge card you are using), until you cancel the Services. Payments are billed in advance at the beginning of the applicable month. All payments are completely non-refundable. You may cancel the Services at any time, but RN will not refund any remaining portion of your subscription fees, including any minimum commitments, already billed to your account. You agree to provide RN with a valid credit card and accurate, complete and updated information required by the subscription registration form. Failure to comply may result in the immediate termination of Services.

little brother market research(tm)

Real Networks also likes datamining customer systems for demographic information [ie: 'marketing purposes'] big brother is alive and well [but now called "little brother" for that touchy feely nice feeling when your privacy is being violated allover the place].

RN just wants your money, your information and oh yes. YOUR MONEY. [I dont bother with there 'tools'... theyre a waste of effort]

Thanks for the info jjmorrice but I don't have an account with realtime. I downloaded/updated the freeware version.

My problem is that the new one has this security function that requires me to verify my age via credit card. I just want get the program off my system and go back to the old version of realtime tha tworked OK.

Sorry....

Means you're going to have to re-format your hard drive to get rid of RealOne.

Ya, I guess you're right Auto Doc.
I really don't have the time to reformat my system today.
I just thought if I gave Goober some responsibility & attention he would do the right thing & act responsibly & show some compassion to his fellow TREBites & offer some genuine assistance...

WTF am I saying!!!!

have you tried the system restore feature. Rollback your comp to the day b4 you installed RP. That is of course if you haven't had it installed for long

Farking TREB mods.
I suspect it had something to do with your request to preview a house in Rosedale at 3AM with a bald transvestite realtor called
Spike accompanied by your Samoan Lawyer named Dr. Gonzo.

(the fact that the house wasn't listed for sale was the first clue)

My post was made with the assumption that you have already tried this.

Don't want to give you directions on System Restore as I am not quite sure how to do it. I usually call one of the helpdesk guys at work.

I'm sure someone will give you the correct procedure

Real Player

Avoid Real One! Loaded with all kinds of junk running in the background reporting back to Berlin. If you have an older version of Real Player keep it and DON'T update to Real One.

Did the update awhile back and it was a real pain getting rid of Real One but did manage to do it without having to re-format. Plus you can't find the older better versions of RP anymore. I was lucky a buddy had an older copy of RP he e-mailed me.

Only use RP when I have to and prefer Winamp player. Winamp is free and you can do quite a bit with it.
