I use Fido prepaid and I find that I get at least 3 voicemail messages per week that are pure static. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I'm hoping it's not someone leaving a message and Fido screwing it up because I already feel bad when I can't return messages when people forget to leave a phone number or name etc.

any ideas?

here, there and everywhere!
Hi Violet - I've had a Fido prepaid for about 3 years and have no trouble at all like that. I've heard others complain about Fido's service, but I have had no problems at all with them. At $30 for 60 days of airtime I just find it a very cheap rate for an extra phone line for "special" situations.

Perhaps someone with a really bad handset of their own is trying to call you? Or perhaps someone from an area with bad reception? Just a couple of ideas off the top.

I haven't had that problem either. Every once in a while I get a voice recording from some guy asking me if I have debt troubles, but other than that I haven't gotten anything.

For the 'debt free' messages, I called the number and had them remove me from their phone list. No calls since.

As for the static calls I got a few, the number turns out to be Fido - their 'courtesy' calls which are simply them trying to get you to upgrade your service. Called them and told them that should they continue to solicit me, I'd change companies. So far (3 months) no more calls.

If you are experiencing ongoing issues with static in some or most of your messages, then your voicemail service needs to be reset. That usually solves the problem. Unfortunately it also it also cleans out your voicemail system. You lose your saved messages. Your password is set to some default (like the last 4 digits of your phone number). You also have to record a new OGM.

Actually, in my case, my vm system was fine. The problem was on their end.
