Question: How to get rid of Household Ants please

So far you guys been PERFECT for help, thanks a lot guys and gals.

Please, here's another one.

Every year at this time, I notice ants crawling around the house (esp. kitchen) so every year I bought the RAID 2 in 1 ant bait. Usually about 2-3 days later they are pretty much gone. However, I notice this year that it's not working??!!! The ants was still hanging around. What should I do?

I know they leave a trail and they are attracted to moisture and food, so I try to keep the kitchen as clean as possible and wipe the floors with mild soap.....still doesn't work.

HELP! ANT ATTACK!

They've probably become resistant to the poison. Maybe try a different type?

Still, you're only treating the symptoms and not the disease. You need to find where they're coming from (sounds like a nest inside your house) and have a professional exterminator come in and handle it.

I've had problems with ants in the kitchen before. Also in the basement. The first I solved by keeping everything clean. The second I called in a professional and haven't seen them since.

Having ants show up is one thing. But year after year means you have a bigger problem.

The little black ants are a pain in the ass. I use a liquid called "ant be gone". It usually takes three to four days to clean them up but the next year they come back. I think they are trained by revenue canada.

Good ideas. I think the baits were suppose to be used in a way which they carry it back to their queen and then they all take a little bite and that'll destroy their whole colony. I wanna try another brand, isn't there any others except RAID? Where can I buy it?

I don't think I have the problem inside the house, I think they come from outside somewhere (I can't seem to find the source) but yearly when I put the RAID they would dissapear and never return until another taxation year (ie April), other than that I never see them the other 11 months of the year- like my accountant.

I used to get ants every year during the same time just as you described. Afters years of killing ants inside my home, and minimizing them with traps and poisions, I began to notice something. While walking around my property, I would find huge explosions of ants and piles of ant hills that would disappear in a day or two. Then one year, I decided to burn those ants with some lighter fluid, and tada, my ant problem was gone! Every year after that I would go out waiting in the same spots, along side the drive way and sidewalk, during the spring and early summer seasons to do my business of burning ants.

HOLY SH*T no wonder your name is BLAZE69, thanks for real...I'll go grab a bucket of lighter fluid and walk around my property pouring them in spots I see hints of ant hills, hope my neighbours don't suspect something strange or else I'll have to ask if they want the ANTS in their pants burned. :D

When I read the title my first thought was:

Tell your uncle to take em HOME already lol

Just be thankful you don't have the biting kind. I used to live in a basement apartment and those little bastards would BITE. One time I was sitting on the couch with the gf and she said: look, there's one on your leg, so we just watched him crawl around...then I guess he found the sweet spot because that little bugger starting gnawing away at me like it was no tomorrow....

BTW: ants covered in chocolate are a delicacy is some countries hehehe

Holy "bringing back bad memories" Batman.

I had the same problem (carpenter ants, I was told) for years and even contracted a pest control company (Abell) to help eradicate them. There was definitely an improvement but it was still a nuisance.

That is until my next door neighbour sold his house to a developer who tore it down and built a brand new house. Problem solved. No ants for the last 3 years.

Hope that simple solution helps.

mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with one tablespoon of iceing sugar . Place in the lid of a sour cream container( anything like that with a low edge rim. Put on the floor where the ants travel The ants will eat the mixture and carry it back to the queen. The baking soda reacts with the formic acid in the ants bodies and pop goes the ant problem.

Your place!!
This is going to sound stupid BUT it works on ants. Put down fabric softener dryer sheets where ever you see them. The ants will disappear.
