I am trying to convert the text in a JPG image to actual text (that can be editted in a Word document).

I downloaded the 21-day trial version of Capture Text 3.1,

http://www.download3000.com/download_5614.html

but it doesn't recognize the text properly and all I get in Word is a buch of spaces and dashes. At best I can copy the text as an image (which is essentially just cropping the image and does not produce text that can be editted)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations of character recognition software.

Print the jpg then scan it to read the text OCR. THe scanner must have come with a program for that. My HP did.

Printing and then scanning is not ideal because there are over 100 pages of text. Also, my scanner is not equipped with character recognition capability.

okay

I read your sentence wrong but then realized it had missed a few words.

I googled: your first sentence but switched the words.

Selecting the text output image will jump you to a copy of the actual text output ... Because of this I generally prefer to use JPEG and GIF image formats, ...
