Guess what, Crystal Mangum the stripper who falsely accused three Duke University Lacrosse players of rape has now been charged with: attempted murder, arson, assault, identity theft, communicating threats, damage to property, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse and remains jailed on a million dollars bail.

All this after her nine year old daughter phoned the police to report her mother was fighting with her current "boyfriend" Seemingly the pièce de la résistance was her fleeing into a bathroom and setting a pile of clothing on fire when the police arrived,

I remember that "situation" fairly well. This is an interesting, if not unexpected, post script. I know the DA in the case was disbarred - do you have any idea what happened to the athletes?

I haven't done a search, but it's also interesting that this was picked up by the Daily Mail. I wonder if any US papers picked it up?

The players were suspended from the university and were the subject of newspaper ads run by 88 members of the faculty accusing them of being racist hooligans.

After they were completely exonerated by the evidence the university president invited them back to Duke. Two of them decided too little too late and switched to other universities.

The university ran an investigation into the lacrosse team that concluded they were good students and that there was no evidence of racism or sexism, that in fact the black players felt well supported by the team, and there was good relations between the male and female teams. The only criticism from the investigation was that the lacrosse team imbibed a little too much booze, but that their behavior was not different than many other students that abuse alcohol.

Most of the faculty that signed the scathing ad never publicly apologized to the students for doing so.

I have a question, why wasnt this nutjob in jail so she wouldnt have done this? I mean she did falsely accuse a group of men of something very serious, almost ruined lives and reputations, cost tax payers money in investigation etc etc

on a side note as if having that party wasnt enough bad judgment from those guys but they actually paid her to take off her clothes ewwwww!!!

I would guess that these guys, unaware of review boards, just called up some place in the yellow pages and got B & S.

This is exactly why I've always hated Duke University. That and being a Georgia Tech fan :)
