How did this pass me by? Bill Ward as outlived Lee "The Bear" Kerslake.

He was the drummer of perhaps the most under-rated band: Uriah Heep. In the mid 70's the band self distructed, first losing their bass player Garry Thain to drugs, then losing their singer David Byron to alcohol poisoning. It was only after the immolation of Uriah Heep that American quasi-copy band Styx got popular. As for Lee Kerslake, he was the drummer on Ozzy's first and second solo album.

Bill Ward has actually cleaned up his act over the past 30-some-odd years. He has not touched booze, drugs or even cigarettes since around 1989-90, and he's become a vegan as well. He's still had some health issues, but he's done pretty well, all things considered.

Hard to say, Bill Ward said he was so drug addled during the recording of the first album with Ronnie James Dio, he doesn't remember taking part.

The Bear did put some tasty drumming into Ozzy's early career.

Ozzy has had a hit or miss solo career, no one will dispute that the early Randy and Lee albums are the best.
