Richmond Hill transit to TTC to downtown

I'm considering moving into Richmond Hill and I'm trying to work out a route to get downtown for work. So, I have a few questions:

1. I know there's a Viva stop at Yonge and Hwy 7, but I can't seem to find any info regarding parking there on their site. Do they charge for parking like TTC?

2. I know there's Yonge route which takes you from there to Finch Station. Approximately how long is that bus ride? I would imagine that would be the quickest way to get to the subway. If not, please share.

3. I'm assuming once I get to Finch Station, I would have to pay a separate fare for TTC. Correct?

I think there is GO train/bus service to Union Station from Richmond Hill. Check out www.gotransit.ca

Exactly what I would've said. Richmond Hill station is on the north side of Major Mackenzie between Yonge & Bayview and has a fair bit of parking. Depending on where you're looking at moving up there, you may not have much of a drive or walk to get there.

1. free
2. 15-20 mins rush hr
3. yes. TTC and YorkRegion/VIVA are separate services/companies. You could look at a GTA pass, but if I remember last it's not worth it unless you work 6 days/week, or ride 3 different bus co.

You are supposed to enter another fare if you plan to cross Steele's for TTC .

When in York TTC collects York's fare which is 50 cents higher than TTC at $3.25 . Even children are supposed to pay this higher rate.

However almost all drivers will accept a TTC coin instead of the $3.25 instead of arguing with the passengers

both TTC and York have web sites

15-20 mins during rush hour? Wow. I was expecting 35-45 mins.

As for the GTA pass not being worth it, it seems like it would be at $47 a week.
Considering viva is $3.25 and TTC is $2.25 one way. That's $11 per day and $55 per week.
Is there something I'm missing?

i might have made a mistake in the time I gave. I was thinking from about Centre St. so add maybe 10-15 mins, but I would still expect about 30 mins on avg.

also with York Region Transit, you can buy 10 unvalidated tickets for $26. 10 TTC tokens cost $22.50 for a total of $48.50. But you are still correct a pass is cheaper, it wasn't so when I did the commute.
