Flea market engagement rings !!! GET A GRIP ! If a woman is worth getting engaged to then she's worth spending some decent coin on. Don't be cheap on your future wife. There's a lot of fake crap out there and it's not worth chucking away your money on paste.

A buddy got the stone from a broker and took it to custom jeweller for the band. It's more work but claimed to save a bundle and larger stone. Make sure the mount is guaranteed as losing the rock is may break the 'I do'.

I don't have much to compare it to, but a colleague of mine got an engagement ring at Experimetal (they have a store on Queen Street West) and said it was somewhat reasonable.

my family used to be in the jewelry business, Tiffany, Birks are your safe bets. If you don't want to spend as much & don't know anything about diamonds I would recommend Spence. At least you can inspect the diamond through the scope & get the rating of the diamond. Some places have really crappy diamonds like peoples, mappins, etc.
