This got overshadowed a bit because he died on the same day as Fats Domino. Robert was 89. Best known for his role as Benson on the TV series Soap and it's subsequent spin off Benson. He also was the voice of the mandrill Rafiki in the Lion King. More important for me was his role as Dr Napier in the film Lean on Me starring Morgan Freeman. The powerful scene below is a true demonstration of his acting chops.
