American retired-General and air legend Chuck Yeager passed today. RIP sir.

As we approach the deadly holiday season I pray for some of my favourites;

Bob Newhart
Alan Alda
Clint Eastwood

Yeager's wartime buddy and fellow WW2 fighter ace Bud Anderson is still alive. No doubt, we will hear his thoughts tomorrow. Yeager flew everything from the P-51 to the F-15, as well as breaking the sound barrier in the Bell X-1.

I didn't know who Chuck Yeager was until I watched The Right Stuff, extraordinary man.

Amazing visual acuity and reflexes. He was also the first pilot in history to shoot down a jet aircraft, in WWII. If he hadn't gotten into the fight late he might have been the ace of aces...

Saw him on Letterman. Asked how great was breaking the sound barrier? He replied "Well it don't beat sex" to which Letterman replied "so that was the reason for the experiment? "
He also talked about shooting down a Messerschmitt jet fighter. He said the guy was coming in to land as he was probably running out of fuel. So he came in behind him and shot him up the ass. Probably unsportsmanlike, but what the hell? They started it.
RIP.
