Rob Ford blasted by Sarah Thomson for alleged crude comment

Mayor Rob Ford is under fire from an old election foe for his alleged party antics.

Sarah Thomson took to Facebook in the wee hours of Friday morning to blast Ford for making a crude comment to her. The Women's Post publisher and former 2010 mayoralty candidate also posted a photo of her with a rough-looking Ford - the mayor's eyes were closed and he had a large stain on his shirt - at a Thursday night party held by the Canadian Jewish Political Affairs Committee.

"Thought it was a friendly hello to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at the CJPAC Action Party tonight until he suggested I should have been in Florida with him last week because his wife wasn't there," Thomson wrote on Facebook. "Seriously wanted to punch him in the face. Happy International Women's Day!"

By 6 a.m. Friday the photo had more than 300 comments on it and had been shared several hundred times.

Thomson went on to add a few other remarks to the photo.

"I've never seen him so out of it. I know I shouldn't be pissed but after spending 10 months on the campaign trail together you expect a little bit of respect at the very least for my husband," she wrote.

She told another Facebook user to "guess where his hand was in this picture? I must go shower...."

"Anyone who talked to him tonight could see he was out of it - I'm venting because I thought on the respect for women level he was better than that," she told another Facebook commenter.

But then Thomson wrapped up her comments with what could be a fairly incendiary allegation.

"Is grabbing someone ass assault?" she wrote.

Mayor Ford's office has yet to respond to a request for comment about Thomson's claims.

Ford's Twitter account also mentioned the CJPAC party.

"Great night meeting some wonderful ppl @CJPAC action party" was posted on the mayor's official Twitter page just before midnight.

Thomson faced off against Ford in the 2010 municipal election but dropped out before Election Day to throw her support behind his biggest rival - George Smitherman

Right....so how is she a staffer?!? Its Sarah Thompson! And I'm SURE she doesn't have an axe to grind.....noooooooooooo.....

This is what his opponents are reduced too now. Using failed candidates to alledge sexual harassment? Sorry. Going to need more than an angry wanna-be's word to buy this one.

And I thought the GOP in the US was bad......

i heard her on tv today. she said repeatedly "that's not the rob ford i know". i think she was giving him the benefit of the doubt. considering what happened, that's very generous of her. now, we all know mr. ford is a bit of a rube. the comment is just a bad low form of humour that we've all used. but grabbing her ass was a bit much. i'm wondering if perhaps he is suffering from pre-diabetes. fat folk do have issues that can affect their thinking. if he did "grab" her, he needs to apologize right away.

And if he did not grab her? If so, then Ms. Thompson has artfully put him at the end of the question "when did you stop beating your wife?"

I wonder what they're up to next...With all the dirt that was thrown on Ford's way. I'm starting to think someone's really aching to take his seat. And imagine what they can do if they do get it.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and one comment was quite insightful. These treacherous cowards don't realize that their very tactics they come up with to get their way, often get used against them.

Thowing curved sticks and all.

The first thing she did was post comments and a picture on Facebook? Were his eyes permanently closed or did he just blink? People have been know to blink as a picture is taken. Nuff said!

Ford is totally out of it in that shot, even looks like he spilled a drink on his shirt.
But besides being a pig and a laughing stock, he's also exactly the kind of politician he claimed he wasn't.

For years he was bragging that anyone could contact him at any point, but now we've got proof that during his time lobbyists have gone way up and it now looks like you have to hire a lobbyist to get anything done.

Since Mayor Rob Ford took office and declared the city “open for business” lobbying activity at city hall has exploded.
Three times more lobbyists signed up with the city in 2012 as in 2010. The number of subjects they’re pushing has doubled. Allegations of misconduct have tripled. And the daily communications logged between lobbyists and public office holders appears to be 10 times higher last year than the year before Ford took office, an analysis by the Star has shown.

And with the numbers on the rise, lobbyist registrar Linda Gehrke worries there is dwindling awareness around the “ethical” guidelines set out in the code of conduct.
But for many councillors, the most worrisome result of the new reality is that average citizens and community associations — people without the means to hire Bay Street professionals to plead their case — are being shut out.
“Unless you can hire a lobbyist, you can’t get a vote through the mayor’s office,” said left-wing councillor Adam Vaughan, a staunch opponent of the mayor’s.
It used to just be “the big money items. Now it’s every item. Two lobbyists were just working the floor of council on whether to widen a sidewalk,” he said referring to the recent debate over valet parking at Pusateri’s.
This year, even the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association felt they couldn’t go it alone during budget negotiations.
For the second year in a row, Toronto Fire was being targeted for cuts. The service stood to permanently lose 101 currently vacant jobs, five trucks and a station, at a time when the union was begging for more resources to deal with a booming population.
President Ed Kennedy tried to plead his case to the decision makers, but he couldn’t get meetings with a sizeable chunk of councillors, particularly on the right and those recently elected.
“And we didn’t seem to have the ear of the mayor’s office like we wish we would have. Like we had before,” said Kennedy.
Kennedy then called Sussex Strategy Group, the most prominent, powerful and sought-after lobbyist firm working city hall. The mayor backed down on the cuts.
