did anyone else get the notice that their "rogers digital vip cable package will increase by $58.97"??? that's a pretty big increase!!!!!

i know it really should say 'to' instead of 'by' but that's a pretty big goof by rogers sending a form letter with a typo like that.

Every March without fail, the cable rates go up. Rogers management is in discussions weekly with Bell to ensure they aren't too far apart price wise so there isnt to much back and forth.

How sure are you that it was a typo? Someone has to pay for not filling the Sky Dome, errr, Rogers' Centre when the Jays play.

Any one had enough of Rogers? I pulled out my ROGERS cable, wireless and internet bill last night. I'll be cancelling all their services any day now. Had enough unnecessary charges from them........ You can go to hell ROGERS

My notice states that my Ultimate Digital Cable service will be increasing to $95.95 and my High Speed Internet Extreme service will go to $52.95 (all plus taxes) after March 1. Additionally, new prices for other services are listed. Also, there is a notation that discounts will continue for "Better Choice Bundles" program customers. I called Rogers in an attempt to learn precisely by how much my bill will be going up... . my last bill was $175 and change. The young lady on the other end was unable to provide me with this information. Seems I'll have to wait to see what I will be paying in March.

Ok everyone knows you can digital quality reception over the air for free with an HD tuner right. So dump rogers and get off air if your in Toronto with an antenna. Sure you may not get the specialty channels but then crystal clear pictures for free ain't bad.

This happens all the time in business. What about when the big oil companies have a coffee with eachother every now and then to discuss the next increase at the pumps? Another oligopoly like the communications business. Democracy at its finest.

You can be sure Bell's prices won't be much different. Not much you can do about it...just pay up, and sit back on the couch enjoying your favourite channel.

Funny thing is these cable companies have a monopoly and they are now refusing to pay their share into the televison fund that is part of their CRTC license. So lets see they have no competion and when they have to contribute to a fund instead of having to pay for the raw commodity( the boradcast signal) they whine.
Hey if this is suppose to be a free market and they don't want to pay up their fair share then pull their license and allow the American cable companies to compete for our business. If that happened you'd see these cable companies wrap themselves in the Canadian Flag and say how un fair that is. Sorry guys you can't have it both ways.
Oh yea Bev Oda finally came out of hiding after two companies stopped paying. She was no where to be found when the first one stopped paying.
Its amazing how these companies want everything their way but if you threaten a true free market by opening it up to American companies they all become patriotic and say how unCanadian it is.

The Internet service fee will increase as well. The same speed, offered by Shaw Cable in BC is half the price. And Rogers is using traffic shaping to control our bandwith. They just suck

That is ted rogoers for you, Thank god my internet is a business expense. I have to call them and find out what my new is. haven't gotten the new bill yet just notices of increase.

Also just so you know, when I called them to cancel my internet service two days ago, i got told that the service will be cancelled a month later, which means they will charge me for another full month. What a scam!! So if you ever planned to cancel your service, do it early.
