Hi, was wondering if anyone knows if there is somewhere to buy used or refurbished digital cable boxes for rogers? I'm looking for a pvr possibly. I saw Future Shop selling a regular box for $99 and around the $400 range for pvr. Thanks

Ugh. I have two Rogers digital boxes in my home. I HATE ROGERS! They also rob me on my cell phone bill, and internet.
Roger's for internet is a beauty, but forget cable TV, they are blood-suckers. Now.... why would I be dumb enough to sign up for Rogers digital TV when for less I can go satellite and get more channels?
The PVR that Rogers uses (Explorer 8000 from Scientific Atlanta) is the biggest piece of junk I've ever used. It fails in so many frustrating ways. At the moment fast forward/reverse is broken on the movie channels (301-7). Compared to a Tivo the user interface is really inferior.

One of the guys I talked to had the nerve to claim to me that this box would "improve the resolution of my TV" ????? Excuse me, but I thought my TV's resolution was governed by the quality picture tube I had in it. Reception, maybe -- but then, wasn't "improved reception" the reason they sold us all cable back in the 70s anyway??
Frankly, I think the only purpose of this useless box is to allow us to spend more money with Rogers. That's legit as a business goal -- but it's not legit not to declare it.
