I guess with the money they're spending on the Jays....does that mean the stuff they have a monopoly on like regular cable, and digital cable will increase. They probably won't increase stuff like cell rates because some will then jump ship to the competition. Gougers...

I also suggest that if you use a cell phone and your name was not appearing with your number before that you check it out with someone you trust to be sure that your name is still not appearing if you want your privacy. Someone I know who calls here all the time his name never showed until recently.

This seems something new that Rogers has set upon themselves disclosing to others and the only answer they gave him is that it recently has changed and that is how his name appears on his bill. I do not understand his whole conversation but this is all I understand of it and that he was quite mad. I suspect Rogers carelessness about asking people first when changing things if they want it changed and instead having to ask them for the privacy and finding out on your own that this has happened and then being told that you have the right to change it is still going to make some people mad.

Anyhow, when he used to call here before it only said undisclosed on my phone but the number appeared. Seeing it is you are not likely to call your own number I thought a few of you may like to check into it.

Believe this is the insert below has been coming with Rogers cell bills. People probably didn't read it.

Note that even if your cell number display was previously blocked, your name will still appear !!! You have to call Rogers to tell them you don't want your name appearing. That's is a mistake on Roger's part

They are also adding name display to cells in Jan. It's about time for that.

It more a female thing. I had a friend who ended up with a cellular stalker. She used her cell for business so changing the number was a big hassle.

It's sort of optics anyway. Did anyone see the Macleans article on the realities of privacy. Macleans was able to to buy the personal land line and the detailed celluar telephone records for the Privacy Commisioner from a data broker for $40. All Macleans gave the broker was her name and the city she lived in. The broker was able to come up with the names and phone number for everyone she called as well as everyone who called her !

This has happen to me with business. I would call to inquiry about a product but they put me on hold. I wait over 3 mins so I hung up would you believe they called me back after 1/2 hour. Also I had friends who used my phone to call their friends/associates to visit them while they are here. Never met his friends nor do I care, and the SOB call me asking why you called me or what do I want. Of course I told them "it must have been someone else who used my phone and this is why I don't like call dispalys it's very stupid and makes the user look like one".

Funny I don't get any calls back.

Yup, I bet that is what happened then, he did not read the whole letter. I too doubt that many will. We are in a rushed lifestyle and I bet most just look to see what they owe to pay the bills and that is it.

I can see many reasons why someone would not want thier whole name to appear on a phone, like myself if I called someone I would not block my number, but I would not want my whole name there either. The same with Bell you have the option of whole name or how you want it to appear in the phone book. Oh, well as long as this has helped a few to understand the changes. I bet people read more on the forums than they do in thier mail. :)
