I'm helping an older friend of the family get rid of a 6 year old Rottweiler/Husky mix, black with white/blue husky eyes male (fixed) healthy with all shots. This is powerful dog, but gentle, in fact he's just a big clown. I would have no problem with kids playing with him. He barks at other dogs but not threatening, but more like a "hey there is another dog...I wanna go over there".

The back story...the owners daughter got the dog, then decided she wanted to move way up north. Her landlord said no to the dog so she left it with her daddy(because what daddy can say no to their daughter), but he just cannot care for or walk the dog. I would take him but i'm in a downtown condo and there is just no room for him.

The owner cannot care for the dog anymore, so if I can't find a good home...well...(do I actually have to write whats going to happen???) It would be best if he were gone this weekend. Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks,

Well Camilla...I think you have yourself a very nice dog. I got your PM just wanted anyone interested that the dog is yours. check your PM. Thanks TERB for letting post this.

Awesome... I have had both breeds... mostly Huskies, but a Rotti way back. It's an interesting combo. Camilla, I applaud you for taking this guy in. If you are not an experienced dog owner, I would urge you to get to a proper training programme. Both of these breeds, and so I assume this guy... will need to understand who the boss is. He's likely to be a very dominant personality and in order to have a good life together, you need to establish dominance over him right from the beginning.

Huskies love to run and will at any chance. I currently have a husky/shepherd cross and that running gene is alive and well...

He's likely an awesome dog, and I was sorely tempted except I have two large dogs already. But it really is important that he knows his place in your "Pack". He's likely a very loyal dog and will become a great, protective family member, but if he doesn't know his place, he'll be impossible to walk and difficult to train or control. I suspect that that is the problem with "Daddy"... You need to establish yourself as the Alpha dog. That's more easily done in a pup, and as a mature dog, this will take some hard, consistent work on your part (and your roomies too).

I don't know where you live, but these guys are great and can likely recommend someone close to you. http://mccanndogs.com/

Good luck!
