She told me that the owner of the little dog was a foreign citizen, perhaps a tourist. And she told of the stages of her capture, with the seagull that aimed its prey from above and swooped in, managing to grab it and carry it away. According to the councilor, “the seagulls, it is known, are attracted to the city by waste”. “That’s why – he explains – their favorite prey are cats, especially small sized ones, and mice: they are animals that roam very often among the waste.” Hence the warning: «The only thing I can recommend is to keep small dogs on a leash even where they could freely remain loose.
