Looking for an intimate (small, quiet) cafe in toronto.

Downtown, or downtown west preferably.

I need a place to take a date where we can hear each other talk.

Not some dump like desserts desserts out in burbland, but small, probably independant. Hopefully great cakes, coffees, etc.

My one find used to be called the Baldwin Street Cafe, now i think they call it Sweet Sensations.

It's on Baldwin, just west of McCaul Street off the beaten path in China town. Very quiet, you can even order a meal.

It's on the North east corner of Baldwin and something else (sorry, but it's right on the corner and a cool little place)

Wondering if anyone has any other places in mind.

Maybe high park area, roncessvailles, annex area etc.

cheers

If you're looking for hip, this place ain't it, but if old world charm and great pastrys fit the bill, go to Petit Paris in Bloor West Village. It's a couple of blocks east of Jane on the south side. First class cakes, excellent egg salad sandwiches and look out for the young blonde waitress. She really stands out among the ancient matrons that make up the rest of the staff...and she's hot. ;)

7 West

7 Charles St. West. Just south of Bloor and Yonge. I haven't been there in a while myself, so maybe check it out on your own first. Kinda funky, hip, a few floors and not what you would expect in the neighbourhood.
