Pro cams are the best, consumer cams vary widely and can be cheap or as expensive as pro cams without the benefit. Do not try to cover a big area with one cam you will be compromising your view. Best coverage is to use two camera to cover one place with different angles. The best systems have remote zoom capabilities, and motion detection in the screen. I prefer wired to wireless, usually slap on the wall installation indicates the equipment is made for consumer use and not pro. If you can install it yourself this will save you big as the bulk of the system cost is in labor.
