Not sure how often ebay gets shill bids, but I am fairly certain that an item I'm bidding on has shill bids.
It sure smells shill to me....
I put a bid on an item that I am interested in purchasing. shortly after I placed my bid, there was a "newbie" placed several bids, increasing by a buck or 2, after about 10 of these bids all layed low for a few days.most of all the bidders activity was with the seller. Then, a few day or so later, another bidder appears, relatively low history and about 50% activity with the seller. bid multiple times with small increases. I was still the high bidder.. Now again tonight, another newbie poster, with about 40% bid activity with the seller appears, and bidding in small increments. Keep in mind the bidding started at $10 and the value of the item is about $100 factoring in the shipping charges. well, this last bidder has bid me up to my high bid price and there's about 12 hrs to go on the auction.
I smell shill and have requested ebay look into the matter. I won't increase my maximum bid . if these people are found to be shilling, I'm wondering what would happen to the sale.
