Unlike the Sam the Record Man store -- a place that had sentimental value but that I hadn't actually visited in years -- I still shop at the World's Biggest Bookstore. So this news is kind of jarring:

I'm a guy who likes real books and hasn't moved to Kobo or the like. But maybe I've just fallen behind the times.

And what goes in instead? High end retailers? Go to bloor or yorkdale. Other retailers? Eaton centre and biggest ungerground mall there. When I go on vacation I look forward to small retailers I can negotiate with. The whole city can't be "gentrified".

There is nothing like going through the stacks of a bookstore or a library. Online is fine when you know exactly what you are looking for, but if you are simply looking for something different, it ain't the same.

Some of us like to browse. Find new authors by peeking at the first couple of pages. I don't just go in for a specific book all the time. WBB was great for that. Huge selection. I just don't get the same feeling surfing online.

Condos are going up on The Worlds Biggest Bookstore site. The world is breeding faster than Toronto. Truth is the world has far surpassed Toronto. It's why the occupants now feed on its corpse. Third world retail is what the Yonge Street strip is now.

Toronto's past lives in 905 and 705 now.

They don't live in my 905 and 705. I work in 416 and I'm saddened at what happened to the city I grew up in.

They fuck up my order at Tims all the time when I'm in my old area code during my work week because English is my first language.

I feel bad that WBB is going. I have spent thousands of hours and many dollars in that place...
