Bell has just recently introduced GSM phones so I doubt they have pay as you go plans that use SIM cards. Your basically stuck with Rogers or Fido and yes the prices for SIM cards over here are ridiculous when compared to the rest of the world.
In addition, the SIM cards only work with the newest phones. That is a real piss-me-off. I wanted to transfer my unlocked GSM that I normally use for Fido with my much ebtter Bell Monthly Plan. Unfortunately, they didn't make thier network backward comaptible. The Plicks.

I got my genuine Fido SIM card on eBay for about $15, earlier this year. NOw, they are only $10.99 at

Bell and Telus's 'new' network is HSDPA (they'd call this 3G on Rogers) only, there is no GSM compatibility.

I have a really old SIM card from my Ericsson phone from years back. I'm still using it but is there a reason to replace it?

Can I replace it without losing my phone number?
