I have an old SIM card for my cell phone. Probably 6-7 years old now. Before I never wanted to get rid of it because it meant having to get a new phone number. But now with number portability I can replace it.

My question is, do newer SIM cards have more memory? In other words, will updating my SIM card enable me to store more text messages/piks on my cell?

At the range!!!
The new sims hold more phone numbers.

Depending the type of your phone with the old SIM card, you could easily install a program (usually comes with the phone or downloadable from the manufacture web site) on your computer .... copy / move all the info (phone numbers, pics, and etc) to your computer.

Do the same with your new phone as the old one and copy / move the old info from your computer to the new one.

It's not that difficult. Do NOT delete the old info from your PC until you are 100% sure all the info are safe on the new phone.

Good luck

P.S. You could move the old SIM card in the new phone and do the same move the old info to your PC ... put back the new SIM and move the data from PC to the new SIM ... probably it's easier IF 1) no way for the old phone to talk with your PC or 2) the old phone is dead.

If you do end up getting a new sim card, try ebay. Rogers/fido will try to sell you one for $35/$40 but you could get them on ebay for around $10. unfortunately I found this out aafter I purchased it from rogers:(
