Get everyone except Alberta and Manitoba to sign up, they can do whatever the hell they want and will have ZERO credibility. This is LONG overdue.

I thought Quebec was against it too.

Regardless, this is one of the few instances where the Fed has to take the lead and not let whining provincial power-mongers detract from the importance of a central regulator.

Now, whether Harper will go ahead with it is another issue, lest he insult his Brokeback Mountain buddies in Alberta...

Good luck getting a conservative to favour federal power to provincial. Then again good luck getting a liberal to change anything until the supreme court tells them they have to.

Good luck getting Quebec to do anything unless there is sweetener in it for them and them only

I just wish the Feds would just ram it through any opposition from 'the provinces'. This is a country, not a collection of little parochial fiefdoms all attempting to keep their little ways of doing things just slightly, but pointlessly, different from each other. I would allow an oversight board staffed by provinical officials to exercise some form of auditing/advisory role, but this is so long overdue it's not funny anymore.

I would ram it through and dare any Canadian company to list their stock on Wall Street.

Our accounting rules are so loose compared to US GAAP, you can turn a loss (under US GAAP) to a gain under our GAAP.
