I smoked at least 2 packs a day for 35 years. this past spring i spent a month in intensive care. Docs said i had a 10 per cent chance of walking out of there. I am still recovering. Havnt touched one since. Good enough reason for you ? lol

Find yourself a hobby six pack like mountain biking for example that won't allow you to smoke and keep you ocupied. Once regular trail riding will get boring get into Downhill mountain biking. Going down the hill at 60+km/h is not for everybody but can be a lot of fun if you know what you are doing. I always had the most fun riding on two wheels and hopefully my advice will help you quit that nasty habit.

Not recently, I quit around 20 years ago and it was one of the best decisions ever made. I agree with Andy - quit smoking and start getting active as your lung capacity improves. I bought a bike at a garage sale for $40 which eventually led to getting a nice road bike and doing very long rides (eg 100+ km charity events) and triathlons.

I did last year. Did it by vaping for 6 months then quitting. After two months I bought a new laptop with the savings.

Watched the savings acct roll up. Went to vegas recently as well.

Just do it. Winter is coming. Do you really want to spend another one huddled in the doorway.

Quit 2 years ago at Xmas.
Was coughing more, justifying it less.
Had a coughing fit while driving on highway, almost blacked out. Time to quit, cold turkey.

There was a commercial on TV from the Ministry of Health that depicted the future for those who smoke. The gist of it was the fact that your final years will be rough, but what they didn't get across was the fact that one doesn't notice a gradual decline in health. As someone who's parents smoked for more than 50+ years, I can say that this is true, as both my parents have been battling cancer, lung and heart issues, all attributed to smoking. My father in law, who passed a few years back was in the same boat.

Quit while it's your decision and not one that's forced upon you, for obvious reasons.

I quit a number of years ago. I read a book called "Easyway to Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr. Read it in one day and haven't had a smoke since. I still can't believe it worked for me.

Been smoking for over 20 years and tried quitting numerous times but its so hard and it doesn't help when everyone around you smoke as well. If you can, do it! If not just try smoking less and do lots of cardio, it does help someway. Good luck

No one can make that decision for you. You either want to smoke or you want to quit.
It will be 4 years this coming February since I quit cold turkey and now I can't stand the smell of cigs. Getting pneumonia 4 times in 8 months had a lot to do with my decision to quit.

My brother quit cold turkey after 15 years of excessive smoking. He looks and feels much better now.

During the last year of smoking, he was hospitalized three times due to excessive coughing and the doctor couldn't figure it out. Being a shit-smoker disturber, I blamed it on smoking. Just so many chemicals and shit involved that can destroy your body. Well he MADE a decision ALONE to quit cold turkey and he hasnt been back to the hospital since then. Oh yes, he blamed it on smoking.

My advice: QUIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTT! Find a way to do so. Good luck.

I quit years ago. My teeth become whiter, lots of wrinkles are gone. I sleep well, I'm full of energy. I got little extra weight so my tits become bigger and my body is more feminine now. I go 2-3 times a year to vacation because I save around 4K a year . It wasnt easy but I did it and I'm really happy now and proud of myself. :)

You should be proud of yourself,...shows your character,...and I love the physical result,...

Smokers should have people secretly take pictures/videos,.. of them standing in a cold rain getting a "fix",...that image alone would do it for me.

"Quitting is for losers"

Let's face it ... smoking is cool as fuck...
It's a drug no less cool or easier to break than heroin. When you are huddled outside puffing away like addicts behind a garbage bin - hard to think it as cool ... of course among other smokers or addicts maybe the perception is tainted from necessity.

My experience is that most female smokers hit the wall hard at 30 looking like wrinkled trailer trash. All of my dad's family smoked with the exception of my grandfather. All of them died 60's to early 70's - the last years of two of my uncles was one on oxygen and the other crippled by circulation problems. One uncle announced to me he was quitting smoking when I visited him in the hospital just two weeks before he died. My grandfather died at 92.

It's all on your viewpoint but when I see a guy smoking I don't see a macho guy, I see an addict whose will power is too weak to quit.

I quit 10 years ago, just reduced my count by 1 cigarette a day until I was down to only having 5 cigarettes a day and went cold turkey from that point on. It was still hard but tapering down made a big difference in my confidence to be able to quit. The quitter nightmares started within a few days and lasted about a week. After that is was smooth sailing.

I should learn to grieve like everyone else. I started smoking again, after being off it, the day my mother died. I'm up to a pack a pack a day, I have an aggressive form of diabetes and I feel like shit.

I keep telling myself to quit, remember Redd Foxx. He was back on easy street when a heart attack took him. He smoked up to 3 packs of cigarettes a day - his ass was clean but his lungs looked like an outhouse pit.

I quit exactly 1 year ago today and I wasn't even thinking of doing it,I happened to get a bad head and chest cold and decided that they no longer tasted very good and I just decided that this was the day i was going to quit. One thing i did to try to make it easier was just take 1 day at a time,my goal was to be smoke free just for the day and tomorrow was a new goal.I smoke for 35 years and did it cold turkey, good luck but you can do this.
