My phone dropped, smashed screen, couldn't access anything for shit.
Grabbed my back-up phone, started to install apps, etc and then Gmail reared it's head.
So you need 2FA (2 factor authentication) to log into your account now, before it was a simple username/password.
Anyways, I couldn't access my other device to give it the "OK, yes it's me trying to sign in on another device" prompt.
My screen was half cracked and I could see the prompt to click "Yes it's me", but I couldn't tap it. With a little research and a shit ton of stress, I found out you can hook up your mouse to your phone using a USB-C to USB-A adapter, I plugged in the adapter and sure enough, a little mouse appeared on my Android screen, I could move it around and click on anything.
So if that happens to you, get a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Then with all that stress going taking over me, I thought, I should sync my contacts next, well I did it with the new back-up phone which had NO CONTACTS and boom, all my contacts from my smashed phone were gone. I thought I lost them all, I panicked, freaked out, sat in silence, contemplated the meaning of life and all those other Karen-like fits.
After a little while I thought do a search for "undeleting, undoing the removal/deletion of contacts", sure enough you have to go through your Google settings page for your account, go to Conacts and there they were sitting in a Trash Bin (for 30 days) before they would be gone permanently. I selected them all, moved them to my Contact list, then EXPORTED them as a .VCF file.
Went to my buddies, had a rye and coke, came home and chilled out, crisis averted but that was stressful AS FUCK.
Highly recommend having this laying around, you never know if you'll need it, but I had no idea that once you plug a mouse into your phone it literally turns into a desktop mode like your PC or Mac.
USB-C to USB-A adapter - Anker is a great brand, but I grabbed this "Tupac" instead for half the price
