Ah a football thread.healer677 said:Losman gets first crack- Holcomb will play back up...for now.
I really hope that Losman gets the first shot as he seems to be a very exciting young prospect. However, I hope that if they give him a shot that they are willing to be patient. His first year as a pro was a wash, so this is really his rookie year. Not too many rookies have alot of success as starting QBs in the league.mrpolarbear said:Ah a football thread.I think Losman gets first crack also but i think he will have a very short leash. I am finally glad to see DABEARS spending a little money and trying to put a real NFL offense on the field ,makes getting my 2005 season ticket invoice today a little easier to swallow. Only 4 1/2 months till traing camp
He signed with the Bills as a free agent didnt he ? Don , do you think Dilfer will be the #1 qb? And finally, DA BEARS make a trip to Cleveland this year,I am thinking of Cleveland or Pitt for my out of town game this year and can you tell me how the tailgaiting is at Browns games and how easy is it to get tickets when they go on sale or are they all sold as season tics.?DonQuixote said:I'm a Browns season ticket holder and have watched every
game Holcumb has played at home for his career in C-Town.
He's a pocket QB that relies on timing with his receivers.
He has to have a 5 second pocket to be most effective, but
he does have a fast release and can be a good timing QB.
His strenths are:
He reads the defense well
He has a quick release
He can play all sides of the playing field
He has what's it takes to play; he can play injured
He is bright
His weaknesses are:
He has virtually no mobility as QBs go
He is injury prone
He needs a running game to be effective
He needs time to get adjusted to his receivers
He's had some great games with the Browns. Who can forget
his play against the Steelers in the playoffs several years ago.
But, he has to have a running game to be most effective.
I wish him well in Buffalo. He has quality. But, he's probably a backup.

You are correct, tailgateing is a sport unto itself and after 30 years I think I am damn good at it. I see the Browns have the same problem the Bears do . When you put a shitty product on the field the hometown fans seem to stay away. The last couple of years when the Viqueens and Fudgepackers came to town it looked like they were the home team since the stadium seemed to be filled with their fans. I am getting to old to get drunk and stupid so i cut out the stupid part years ago .I checked out the Browns website, pretty nice but they need a message board. Once again thanks for the info. I wanna sit in the Dogpound.DonQuixote said:Hi Bear:
The Browns have two rookies and Dilfer. They picked him up to be the
starting QB. The rookies have physical talent but not much hands-on
training. The tail-gaiting is a sport in and of itself. The whole area around
the stadium is buzzing on football Sunday. You shouldn't have too much
trouble getting a ticket. It certainly is easier than Pittsburg at this time
due to the stellar season the Steelers just had. Tickets should be easy
to get. There's a lot of fans of the visiting teams at the games. I haven't
seen or heard of any problems with roudy's giving out-of-towners a hard
time. The last two Steelers-Browns games showed a lot of Steelers colors
but no incidents. If we don't throw Steelers fans off the top deckthen
a Bears fans should have no problem. Just don't get drunken stupid and
you will be warmly received by the local fanatics.
