Back in the late 1970s/early 1980s, my dad knew a repo-man who primarily did vehicle retakes in northern Manitoba and northern Ontario.

Much of his work was going into First Nations communities and he'd regularly get beaten up or have warning shots fired over his head -- basically, a repo-man is a car thief with the law on their side. Unlike in cities or towns, your presence would be noticed very quickly and there aren't a whole lot of escape routes if you're caught in a jam in remote places.

Not a job I'd ever want, but you'd be a bit of a legend amongst your friends, lol.

La la land
So a Repo person is a middleman. Working on contract for a dealership. Dealership didn't get paid for automobile so wants it (auto) back or money. No money , repo man goes to get vehicle and he is at fault?
Drivers should know better to pay their monthly bills.

How is it not the drivers ( not owner of automobile since they are still paying for it ) fault?

They don't work for the dealership, they work for a private company. They are all licenced bailiffs in Ontario. The dealership has already been paid for the car, the banks and lenders are the ones who want their money. The repo'd cars are held for a time (to allow the owner to pay the money owing). And then sold at auction so the finance company (bank, lender, etc) gets their money. Any car that is repossessed in Ontario has already been issued a warrant from a judge to allow the lein holder to reposses the car. It isn't the wild west out there like social media might have you believe.
This is true, most will not go as crazy but now and then they will meet up with a crazy.
