You'd think they would put wider legs on that craft to not topple over. Duh.

Yes it does look like a leg gave way.
There is also a chance that the barge moved upon landing thus adding to the weight on the leg.
Too bad.
But it does look like they have the technique and skills, they just need to strengthen the equipment.

Yes but it almost looks like a scene from the dawn of the space age. Those type of mistakes shouldn't happen (you'd think that was an elementary thing to design on a computer with simulations).

Unbelievable though how the rocket exploded. The fuselage or tank was pierced it seems, and that caused the explosion.

Is Space-X owned by the Tesla guy?

Surprising amount of propellant left after landing.

I was thinking the same thing but probably doesn't take much, and they need extra during these trials to provide the reverse thrust to land the rocket on the ground.

Barge as in floating platform? I didn't pick that up before. Why on earth would they do that? Couldn't they land on a flat surface in the desert?
The barge is moved to the equator so the rocket requires less fuel to get into orbit.

That's a great video.
The first stage rockets on satellite launches are very expensive to manufacture and if you can recycle the first stage rocket for multiple uses you can cut down the cost of launching satellites by a significant amount.

One of the legs failed in this touchdown causing the collapse.
If there's a flaw in a design the universe will expose it in some way, now it's up to the engineers to fine tune their design and make it more bulletproof.
They've successfully re landed these stage one rockets many times already during testing phases.
