Hopefully its part of the Rogers VIP Package or Super Sports package which I have. Knowing Rogers I wouldnt put it past them to have it seperate from either of those packages just to make their customers have to pay extra.

That's exactly what it's for. Provide the same amount of quality major league stuff on two channels, fill it out with poker, darts and similar filler s**t and make the customers pay for each. On the other hand, maybe with more income they can bump up the Jays' payroll by a few million. Or not.

I saw that they're offering all sorts of flames and oilers games this year, or will they be blacked out in ontario as they usually on sportnet west?!!

The blackouts are just Rogers way of coercing you into paying for the Supersports package. Gotta love those sneaky marketing tactics.............. NOT.

Jays are currently on the new SportsNet One tonight, they are early in the game.

So I wonder what is on the other SportsNet channels ...
SportsNet Pacific - Yankees at Royals
SportsNet West - Dodgers at Atlanta
SportsNet East - Red Sox at Rangers

... and on SportsNet Ontario - a movie ... Rudy. This movie is 15 years old. What the fuck ?

This is why they needed a new channel ?

...and why is it on 394-395-584? You'd think Rogers would park the HD channel in a prime, easy to find location, like 501 (does anyone watch that 501 HD Preview Channel?!?).

Is Rudy about a short football player? Is it in high definition?
Yes, that Rudy. The one about the Notre Dame guy who got into one game at the end of his college football days.

Well, this is lose-lose for me. I am not a sports fan, but I am a Jays fan. I do not watch sports 6 months of the year, 7 if the Jays stink so badly they are 15 games out by September.

So now I am going to either lose half my Jays games or have to pay extra for a channel I will not watch most of the time.

Hopefully now that it's launched they can get rid of that annoying-ass Nelly commercial "I am number one...." yada yada yada. I go into convulsions whenever I hear it.

I'm with you.

I refuse to pay extra for programming that used to be free. I really miss the golf channel, but no way I'm gonna pay extra for. I will also really miss some Jays games as well, but there is enough other stuff or DVD's that I can watch. Life will go on.

Let's call Rogers and ask them to consolidate all the Jays games on one channel and cut out all this poker/darts crap.

The last thing we needed was another sports station. I hate poker & i only watch Sportsnet when Bob McCown's show is on (Primetime Sports), plus the Jays or the Leafs. What Rogers did yesterday was a shame! People in Ontario who wanted to tune in to the Jays game were stuck with watching 'Rudy'. If you didn't live in the Toronto area & being a subscriber of Rogers, you were out of luck if you wanted to catch the Jays game. Silly marketing by Rogers!

The blackouts are NHL rules, nothing to do with Rogers, blame the owners and their yesman Bettman.

At least most of you guys receive the channel. I live outside of the GTA and am on Bell satellite. I watched Sportsnet news and they say that Shawn Marcum has a no-hitter in the 6th inning and it is available on Sportsnet-1. The only trouble is that only Rogers customers receive Sportsnet-1 and the game is not available anywhere else.

I am able to listen to the game on radio and heard as the no-hitter was broken up. I went to a forum on the Sportsnet website and there are angry fans all across Canada that are unable to see Jays games just when they are starting to be interesting to watch for the first time in 15+ years.

Rogers owns the Jays and they just alienated a huge chunk of their fan support across Canada. But at least they get to charge their local fans a bit more money to watch them play.
