I have a few different spyware programs installed on my computer such as Spy-bot, Ad-aware, Spysweeper etc.. What I'm finding is that each program will pick up spyware that the others did not. So, how can you be sure that the programs you have are catching everything??

For Spy sweeper you have to get definition updates periodicly. Just like virus updates for antiviruses. The thing I did not know is for Spy sweeper there are active shields that removes a lot of undesirables without having to perform a sweep if they are turned on.

It is hard to keep it completely clean all the time. But with Spy Sweeper it is easy to keep under control I found.

The funny thing with microsoft Xp it has spyware built into it. But the spy sweeper identifies it.

auto doctor - Are you sure that's the case? Some of these Adware detectors identify "problems" which are not problems at all. Probably a technique to get you to buy the software.

banshie- For myself I purchased the spy sweeper without any trial versions. I had my computer browsing the internet slowly and the start up was really slower. After discussing the problem with the ISP they suggested to check for spy ware. After installing Webroot spyware for $40 bucks. I did a sweep and found some 140 programs and traces in my system. And the computer ran normal after that. Some of the spyware take some of your RAM for operating. And some put useless tool bars and icon on the computer. Some change your default web page on your browser. Some put endless cookies on your system.

In my opinion spy sweeper type software has now become neccessary. Just like firewalls and antivirus software.
