let me put a question to you gents. what do you think the real purpose of a stag is? to have a great time while raising a little money for a the groom, or to have a decadent night with no fund raising, and little thought of the cost?

To give you're friend his last party night before there are constant eyes on his balls "for richer or poorer".

i too believe there are two kinds of stags. lets face it, if you're marrying an italian pricess who's dad is paying for every thing, why not go to vegas or something. but if you're a guy that's been saving since he started working, and now have to drop $10,000 just to keep your chick happy, every little bit helps.

i think he does need the cash. and the stag that is being planned for him now is sounds like it's going to be expensive and, well, kind of gay. by that i mean parents in attendance, and big over head that's supposed to be divided up between those in attendance.

my concern is that after paying $100 just to get in, most of the guys won't have as much to contribute to 'kitty'. what ever. i can't really say to the best man, 'hey dude, get your head out of your ass.' so i guess i'll just roll with what ever happens.

Mr. Italy,

Just in case you ever get divorced and re-married, you really should know that I've always thought ever so highly of you.

It's about fun!!!

IMHO,

A stag is not to make money for the wedding. That's what the reception is meant for. A stag is all about making sure your buddy has the best night ever-One last kick at the proverbial can. I gave my friend carte blanche at a MP after we came from a SC. I told him that once married, I would never ever take him again.:)

not all cultures share this oppinion. myself and the groom are very WASPy and there just isn't that kind of 'good fellas' cash in at the reception. plus i was tought it was generally goshe to give cash as a gift to a close friend.

as for the absurdity of paying $100 bucks right off the bat, i totally agree. the key is to charge a moderate to medium cover, then bleed them on the rafles and gambling. i think the problem is the person planning the stag is a family man that's been married for a while. he's lost touch with the whole single guy mentality.

btw, how p-whipped are guys that agree to a 'jack and jill' party? just how a guy needs to spend his last moments as a single man, eh?
