Unless the police catch the gang with a group of undispersed stolen bikes, I would not hold much hope that you would get your bike back. The Air Tag bell mentioned above seems like a small investment for quality bike.Call the police station - ( they will tell you to check the website) they are the one's who supposedly kept track. I still don't know why they used SIN instead of drivers license.
If you want to buy a used bike off Kijiji, for starters, get the seller's phone number. If they refuse to provide it, walk away. Next ask them for the serial number because you want to run it through the police database first. That should discourage anyone trying the to sell stolen bikes.P.S. A friend warned me that a bike for sale on one of the social media sites could be stolen (the bike not the site). Also, I hear that Toronto is the bike theft capital of the world.
I been to police auctions. Yes they ask for ID when you buy only. Well they used to when you buy only. GO to one it is fun for the first 21 minutes.Met a random stranger a few years ago. He said he bought his bike at a police auction. Got a really good deal.
Heads up: I think he said the police asked for ID.

Don't go if there is a warrant for your arrest. It's a sting. LOL!

Do they also take your pic and finger print? LOL!
