I wasnt the biggest fan of Norm but he was an entertaining guy and a guy I had been listening to for 16 or 17 years. I will miss him on the air. This is unfortunate.

That's bad news:( . I wish they would have got rid of Don Landry instead and put Stormin Norman on in the mornings with Stellick.

I was huge SN fan. When Nelson Millman says that advertising is down does that mean that Saul Korman only advertises on the Fan590 one hour a day instead of two---lol.

Not sure how the decision making is made on these types of issues at the Fan590 but I agree of all the people to let go surely there were others that were more expendable. Not that I would be happy with anyone losing their job. There are many on-air personalities on the Fan590 that I do not like at all but I would never wish for anyone to lose their job. Norm Rumack was the guy that got me hooked on sports talk radio back in 92 or 93 whenever the fan1430 launched. I got so used to turning on the radio late at night and hearing Norm's voice. The past few days Ive turned on and its Alex Seixero. He wasnt the most knowledgeable guy Norm but he was very entertaining I thought. I wil definitely miss him. I hope he lands somewhere else and in the same time slot. Who knows maybe 640 can find a place for him.

I'm sure with Norm's experience AM640 would be a good fit? I guess the Rog still keeps his job:confused: ?

I guess the Fan can pay Alex Seixero a much cheaper salary then SN? Thanks for posting the article.

Anyone losing their job is bad but ya guys gotta admit his act got old pretty fast, from the Hammerhead alert, Leafs are God's team shtick to converting to a Sabers and Tampa Rays fan, which was totally lame. I love hearing Sexiero maybe its because I am biased and he is a big soccer fan like myself.

If I'm not mistaken a couple years ago he was a Pirates fan and then changed to Tampa Rays. He also has since changed from theSabres, I think this past season he was saying he was a Capitals fan or something. I could be wrong on the team but Im pretty sure he moved on from the Sabres and changed teams again. Your right that was pretty lame how he just changes teams all the time.

I disagreed with him a lot but at the end of the day I did listen to his show and I dont think he was a bad guy. It will definitely be different not hearing him on the air in the late night. I just got so used to turning on the fan590 and hearing Rumack on the air.

Seixeiro's voice irritates me already. I hate Soccer:p . Bring back Stormin Norman.

Maybe Saul Korman has a job for SN. I don't know which is worse? Having to listen to Saul Korman's shill every morning or that Joanna commercial---lol?

Not to mention, he had a serious man crush on Wendel Clark.

I'm not a big fan of Seixero's voice either. And while I am not a soccer fan I dont mind that he talks it as long as he doesnt make the whole show about it the way Farraway makes the Director's chair exclusively about hockey and soccer.

Well I havent listened to the morning show in years. I hate the morning show so I probably hear the Super 8 Joanna commercial a lot more than Saul Korman's commercial. I hate the Super 8 commercial. But I tell you what I probably hate the Pizza Pizza commercial the most.

I got used to Rumack as well. I would listen to his late night show at least three times a week. CK04 I forgot to mention this to you. I really like Mike Willner who's the host of Jays talk for the fan590. Willner is very sarcastic yet funny at the same time. At least Willner wasn't fired!

Wilner knows his stuff he is very knowledgeable and I am all for people with passion for their sport and knowledge as well. My only issue with Wilner is that he is constantly quoting stats and stuff. its like sometimes I wish he wouldnt quote so many stats in his arguments it makes my head spin. I dont dislike him though.

Doug Farraway is a character. At least he's just on the air for an hour every weekday. His last show was interesting. He talked about all the horrible draft choices the leafs made over the years. For example Steve Bancroft and this guy Pozma.

Both of these guys were top round picks for the leafs who played a total of 18 nhl games between them.

I haven't heard that Pizza Pizza commercial yet. I'll be on the lookout for it though:) .

it is annoying as hell, i heard it a few times during yesterdays blue jays game as well. I literally turn down the volume whenever that commercial comes on. Its like when you have a song stuck in your head that you hate and you cant get it out. I dont want to have that stupid pizza pizza jingle in my head so I turn down the volume.

A friend of mine who grew up in the same neighbourhood as me works in sports media in Toronto. You'd know his name if I mentioned it.

But, anyway, this friend has known Norm for almost 20 years and once a year or so he sits down with Norm at Tim Horton's or some other place for a coffee for an hour or so and he says that Norm always had a million complaints about what a horrible dump the fan was to work at.

He's applied all over the city at other radio stations or TV stations for work and they won't hire him because he's been stereotyped as the late night vampire at Fan590.

Norm is also unbelievably thin skinned and is deeply offended when athletes don't show him the courtesy and respect he feels he deserves. He was in his glory days in 90's when Fletcher ran the Leafs and Cliff used to have lunch with Stormin Norm every once in a while.

But, Norm's glory days with the Leafs are long gone and at 54 there is a huge generation gap between Norm and younger athletes and they don't want to spend 2 seconds more with him than they need to. Norm finds all this really offensive.

A funny thing about Norm is that he is completely non technological. He never uses computers or email or the internet. Never. If you put him in front of a computer he is literally like a caveman. He has no idea what to to.

Rumack gets newspaper subscriptions from all over North America and shows up at work with two shopping bags filled with newspaper sports sections from all over N.A. He spends a lot of his free time reading sports stories and is endlessly fascinated by all kinds of sports stories.

Anyway, overall I enjoyed Norm's work at the Fan. He was really well informed and did really good interviews.
He's a much more interesting person to listen to than shallow nobodies like Dan Dunleavy or Mike Hogan.

I used to fall asleep listening to Stormin Norman Rumack every night. At that time he had Roger Lajoie as his sidekick. It was actually entertaining to listen to. Then I'd wake up to Pat Marsden(RIP) and Derringer/Stellick in the morning, that was the best show ever in sports radio.

The ONLY reason Alex even has a job is because of his arrogant brother Sid (660 I like to call him) over at The Score who has pull in the Sports media industry. Trust me on that, I've heard from various sources who work in Sports.

A buddy of mine was actually classmates with Sid at Humber College and said he was the most arrogant SOB you would ever want to meet!

Norm RULED! Typical Fan590 crap.

I'm trying too suffer through listening to Eric Thomas of Raceline radio fame. Just too repeat. IMHO the fan 590 made a big mistake in getting rid of stormin Norman:( !
