Alabama student government threatens loss of seating for any Trump protesters

The University of Alabama's student government is reportedly warning that students could lose their reserved football seating for the rest of the year if they protest President Trump's appearance during Saturday's game against LSU.

"Additional security will ... be in the student section during the game. Any organizations that engage in disruptive behavior during the game will be removed from block seating instantly from the remainder of the season," Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Rothfarb wrote in a letter to students, AL.com reported on Wednesday.

Nearly 60 student groups reportedly have reserved blocks of seats at Bryant Denny Stadium, and attendees have been encouraged to arrive at least two hours early due to the high security.

The game, one of the most anticipated of the season due to Alabama and LSU's high rankings and decades-long rivalry, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time Saturday. In the first official college football playoff rankings released on Tuesday evening, the Crimson Tide was ranked third while the LSU Tigers were ranked second, behind only Ohio State.

Sports Illustrated first reported on Monday that the university was making preparations for Trump to attend the game.

It is the third sporting event Trump is scheduled to attend in recent weeks, following a World Series game at Nationals Stadium where he was booed by attendees and an Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Madison Square Garden where he received a mix of cheers and boos.

The Hill has reached out to Alabama's student government for comment.

I guess trump doesn’t like it when he gets Booed.

It doesn't say they can't boo. It says they can't be disruptive or protest. I wouldn't call booing disruptive. And a football game is no place to protest anything unless it pertains to the game being played. The U of A is doing this, not Trump. Of course it is normal for lefties to blame Trump for everything they don't like. you guys are getting boring.

Man this should be a great game. Two collegiate titans meeting head to head.

Anyways I personally don't believe sporting events should be used to boost political platforms.

It created division and detracts from the spectacle of the event.

The Pixie is back!

The former AG Jeff Sessions who refused to 'Barr' for Trump is officially running for a Senate seat in Alabama in 2020.

Yes, I can't wait to see both sides go at it.
Should be totally exciting.

If I was a student attending this game I would get together w some friends, drink a lot before the game, and then show up Booing, carrying signs, and otherwise be as loud and obnoxious as possible.

The university would then ban me from future football games and I would make a HUGE fucking deal on social media about how I am being persecuted by the University of Alabama. I would Tweet about it constantly and become a Twitter celebrity. I would film myself getting kicked out of future football games and stress how Donald Trump and the University of Alabama are trying to censor my First Amendment Right to Free Speech.

I would get maximum mileage from this event.

Trump has politicized the game by attending it. Maybe you could talk to him on Twitter and ask him to spend the weekend at Mara Lago...he could watch the game on tv?

In order words, you'd annoy everyone in the seats around you just trying to watch the game. Not surprised.

I’d bring a bunch of my friends and we would all have megaphones. We would chant, “Lock him up” continuously from kick off until the end of the game. We would chain ourselves to our seats so that no one could physically remove us.

When the rest of the crowd saw our devotion to our cause, they would all start chanting with us. It would be one continuous “Lock him up” chant for the entire game. It would be the best football game ever.

Sounds like you've never been to a football game. You seem to be confusing it for an ANTIFA gathering. Maybe you are more familiar with those events. Here's some background. Football fans like to watch the game, not watch protesters. My advice - don't get seats in the upper bowl. The footing can be treacherous when the security starts yanking you down the stairs.

'Trump Baby' balloon slashed, deflated at Tuscaloosa protest before president's appearance at LSU-Alabama game

A giant balloon depicting President Donald Trump as a baby was stabbed and deflated during Saturday's protest in Tuscaloosa before the president's appearance at the LSU-Alabama game.

Protest organizer Nic Gulas said the incident occurred sometime after 1:30 p.m. CT. According to Birmingham's ABC 33/40, the slashing suspect screamed at protest organizers as he was arrested. A message left for the Tuscaloosa Police Department by The Montgomery Advertiser had not been returned on Saturday night.

Organizers of the protest worked to raise $4,000 to bring the "Trump Baby" balloon to Tuscaloosa's Monnish Park. The "Trump Baby" has been deployed at protests of the president around the world. The balloon fundraising drive raised more than $7,800. Organizers said they will donate the excess funds to the Equal Justice Initiative.
