I got my first set of suits from Toms Place when I moved to a new company years ago and it was one of the best investments in myself I ever made. I got fairly classic cut suits so they don't age as quickly as something über hip and current. 3 were Sean John, 2 were Ralph Lauren, and one was a fairly anonymous simple black suit for funerals and the like.Apart from really high end like Rosens or low to middle chain like Moores where do you buy suits?
Anyone any experience with Toms Place in Kensington? Or Korys on the Danforth?
Useful info and site...thanksIf you know your suits, you know the finest worsteds come from Huddersfield in England.
H has been in the wool trade from the start of the industrial revolution. Most of the mills closed in the 80s due to Asian competition - the survivors survived by creating a niche for the very finest cloths.
You can purchase a suit length from the mill, online. You can get very good quality for under GBP100 per metre. You need e.g seven metres for a suit, to be on the safe side -- that covers 3-piece, matching the pattern, you being large, etc. (Don't skimp on the quantity - you can't go back for a bit more.)
They sell to the trade, of course, but I've not had trouble getting just one or two suit lengths. Best suit material I ever had was from the end of an overrun of an order from a sheik, which I got for next to nothing.
Can't help with getting it made up. It helps to have a (retired) tailoress in the family.

As a coincidence, I dropped by Tom's Place today. Good selection of nice suits and jackets. Lots of staff available to help. They have a sale on at present. When I went to pay for my sport coat, Tom was hanging out by the register and knocked some additional $$ off the total. I was happy with my experience and would return. They will also provide a parking receipt for a free hour at the Green P if you ask.
