Surfing TERB from work

I work for a corporation and during my lunch or off time at work I surf TERB. What are the chances of my employer or IT department tracking my online visits to TERB, etc.

Here's a question for the techies...

If your work has remote access and you log in from home to check your outlook email using your own Internet connection, if you simultaneously open your own personal browser and surf porn, can your work IT department see that?

Yeah, I'm not talking about a malevolent employer who is out to get its employees. I'm sure if they REALLY wanted to know what remote users are doing on their personal computer at the same time they're logged on then they'd find a way. I'm more interested in knowing if their regular routine security measures (i.e., watching out for porn websites) can catch what someone is doing on their home computer outside of the vpn/gateway access.

They can if while connected to them you open a browser within that session that routes traffic through them, (ex: vpn setup). Some malicious companies have users install software on their pc and will ask them to "allow them access" if you need help. A completely unnecessary setup (if spying on you isn't their intent) btw. In this case I would have two pc's one with the software and used for work only and another without it.

It really depends on your set up and I would need a bit more info on how you connect before giving you a definitive answer.

Now for those @ work, you're taking a huge risk even with precautions. If you must, put a portable browser on a usb stick and research ssh tunnels and/or external vpns. Terb isn't encrypted (https) so anything can be sniffed with ease by anyone on your line.

I worked for a company once where we produced a weekly report that me and another manager reviewed. Most hits on questionable sites were just accidental, but the obvious ones were obvious. Just don't do it guys. Why would you need to anyway.

+1 smart phone, once upon a time defeating corporate security was the only way to have freedom at work, and there are ways--you could run a browser in a VM and tunnel out through your own private vpn--but in these days of oversized smart phones and unlimited data plans why risk your job? Some of the corporate security software works by imaging your screen periodically so in the end they may see what's there no matter what you do.

And there is an app you can use to browse the terb forum (forum runner) though it's a bit slow sometimes it works.
