i was wondering,
you know how boxers wear sweat suits when they're training, to drain excess water?

what are the pros and cons of this?
Health effects?

Thats very temporary; you realize that right? Fighters wear that so that they can make weight right before a fight.

As shiek said, If you're not trained for this you may end up with more than you bargained for

Hmm my question would be: Why would you want to lose so much water anyways? If your body has too much, you pee more. You are risking kidney problems if you screw around with you body like this.......(I also think it messes up your ephithalmus too,but don't quote me on that...).

Actually some fighters wear them weeks before the event if they have alot of weight to lose and they know they couldn't keep it down. For example, the three weeks before his 1st bout vs.Pacquiao, Erik Morales did all of his sparring and ring work in 3 layers of clothing - at altitude!

Generally speaking, this is very dangerous and unhealthy if it's not done by athleates who's bodies are acustomed to such ordeals, and with medical supervision.

Guys who are naturally beefy or muscular can really weaken themselves by doing this. Conversley, in the case of Morales, he's a skinny man and he needs to perform skinny no matter how gruelling the weight loss. When he fought just 5 pounds heavier last year, he looked ridiculously sluggish.

A major part, is to keep the muscles warm.
Muscles can be analgous to elastic (bands).
When cold, limited range in terms of stretching. When warm, greater range (of motion).
Why do baseball players put on jackets during the game?
Keep the rotator cuff and surrounding muscles warm.
Sweating is a side-effect, sometimes a desired one, but they also have to make up for it, by drinking tons of fluid in between.

This is very true as I am doing this kind of thing to be an Amature Boxer myself. The amount of water that u have to drink to even make it through the 3 rounds of sparring and rounds on the bag is crazy. If you are not used to it at all it is a real shock to your system.
