Israeli airstrikes on the Syrian Defense Ministry and the presidential palace in the capital Damascus on Wednesday were promptly condemned by its neighbor and ally, Türkiye, which called the attack an act of sabotage.

"Israel’s attacks on Damascus, following its military interventions in the south of Syria, constitute an act of sabotage against Syria's efforts to secure peace, stability, and security," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Syrian people now have a historic opportunity to live in peace and integrate with the world," it said.

"All stakeholders committed to seizing this opportunity must contribute to the Syrian administration's efforts to establish calm," the ministry added.

The Turkish Presidency's Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran said, "Israel’s attacks on Syria target not only Syria’s stability and security but also the peace of our entire region."

In a post on his social media account regarding Israel’s attacks on Syria, Duran added: "I condemn this assault, which threatens Syria’s sovereignty and unity. As it has until now, Türkiye will continue to support Syria’s territorial integrity."

The Israeli military on Wednesday carried out airstrikes near the Syrian Defense Ministry in Damascus, in likely response to Syrian government forces' operations against armed clashes in the southern city of Suwayda. Israel said it was stepping up attacks on the Syrian government with the declared aim of protecting the Druze minority from alleged harm by national security forces. It marked the third day in a row that Israel has struck Syria, where government security forces have clashed with local Druze fighters in the southern city of Suwayda.

Ankara views Syria as a neighbor it intends to stand by during its reconstruction and reintegration into the international fold.

Turkey seeks to limit Israeli encroachment in Syria amid conflicting regional agendas

“Israel’s attacks on Damascus, following its military interventions in the south of Syria, constitute an act of sabotage against Syria’s efforts to secure peace, stability, and security,” the Turkish foreign ministry said in a statement.

Turkey is deploying intensive diplomatic efforts to contain the destabilising effects of Israeli attacks on Syria whose government it has consistently backed since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shaibani, on Wednesday, that Israel’s strikes in southern Syria and Damascus were “alarming”, a Turkish diplomatic source said.

Fidan also spoke to US special envoy for Syria Tom Barrack on the phone, saying that Israel’s attacks on Syria and the clashes in the south must be stopped, according to the same source.

Turkey on Wednesday condemned Israel’s strikes on Syrian army headquarters in Damascus, saying they undermine stability in the war-torn country and must stop.

“Israel’s attacks on Damascus, following its military interventions in the south of Syria, constitute an act of sabotage against Syria’s efforts to secure peace, stability, and security,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Israel bombed the Syrian army headquarters in Damascus on Wednesday after warning the
Islamist-led government not to harm the Druze minority in its Sweida heartland.

Israel has presented itself as a defender of the Druze, although some analysts say that is a pretext for pursuing its own military goal of creating a new de facto buffer zone keeping Syrian government forces as far from the border as possible.

Israel’s increasing encroachment is a source of grave concern for Ankara which seeks to maintain influence in Syria and to preserve a minimum level of stability for the regime there.

For the time being, Israeli and Turkish agendas in Syria seem to clash compelling Ankara to seek de-confliction arrangements with Tel Aviv.

Fidan also said that Ankara has conveyed its views regarding Israel’s air strikes on Syria to Israeli authorities via its intelligence agency, adding Ankara was also in close contact with regional powers and the US.

Turkey has condemned Israel’s strikes against other regional countries, including Lebanon, Iran and Syria, while calling Israel’s military assault on Gaza a genocide.

It has halted all trade and recalled its ambassador in Tel Aviv for consultations too. It has not, however, severed diplomatic nor intelligence links.

Speaking to state media in New York, Fidan said he was in close contact with Tom Barrack, US Special Envoy for Syria and the US ambassador to Turkey, adding he had discussed the issue in phone calls with his Syrian, Jordanian and Saudi Arabian counterparts.

“At the same time, we have conveyed our own views on the matter to the Israelis via our intelligence agency, that we do not want an instability here,” Fidan said, and added Syria’s new government could not solve the conflict without measures to ensure security in the region.

The only way to stop Netanyahu from bullying around in the Middle East is for either
the U.S. to cease to be Israel's poodle or for Iran and Syria to be nuclear armed.

MErdogan has brought Turkey backwards. They were great when secular. They should shut the fuck up as they bombed the Kurds big time. The new government in Syria is doing ethnic cleansing, they attacked Christians a few months ago and now they're butchering the Druze. There are videos going around of the Muslims slaughter of their minorities.

The new Syrian government is an Al Qaeda/ISIS alliance with the US and Israel.
Mostly the bombing is still coming from Israel.

Just goes to show you can't trust these Islamists, a leopard can never change their spots. The US made a mistake by trusting them and the Israelis are standup for protecting the Druze that were getting butchered. Arab countries are full of wackos that all they want to do is kill each other.
