I was discussing some recent events with a senior member of the boards, who will remain nameless. After hearing my tales of the last 3 weeks he suggested that I write about it. To be sure that all involved get to read this open thank you note, I will be posting it elsewhere as well.
As some of you know, I was away from Toronto for a few months and it wasn't a happy time. I was nervous about coming home as I knew I would have to restart my life in a destitute state, without a job, serious relationship, or any real direction for my future. I logged on to the boards and left a quick note that I was home. Originally I intended to return to the biz temporarily, just to put food on the table, but I didn't want anyone to know just how sad a state I was in, so I posted as though I was having the greatest time of my life. The response I have received has actually turned my life around and created what may well be the happiest times I have had in years.
People have been coming out of all corners to welcome me home. Over the last three weeks I have received gifts of cash during purely platonic visits, been taken grocery shopping, received gifts of food, found double what I expected in an envelope, and today, I even received a stuffed Butterball Turkey (I had mentioned last winter that the kid loves when I make potato soup from the bones and he remembered). And then of course there are my standard 4 hour bookings of all you can handle pleasure, which is just as much fun for me as I hope it has been for them.
I hesitated to write about any of this because I was concerned that someone might feel left out, or less valuable. That is certainly not the intent. I do want to point out that rather than feel cheap and used as part of the 'hooker' attitude, you have made me realize just how rich my life is. I am indeed a very lucky woman to know men such as you. And the greatest value is in the love and companionship that you have been giving me. I treasure that above all else. The dinners, visits, phone calls, emails and PMs have warmed and strengthened me in ways that I can never describe. And to a certain man who has me on his forwards list for funny emails - how do you always manage to send the best ones right when I need them most?
The support from the other women cannot go unmentioned either. Again, the visits, emails, phone calls, and PMs have been like a lifeline to me.
I don't want to violate anyone's privacy and so I won't give any more details than that. But the request was made to make public how wonderful this community really is, and I hope that I have been able to communicate that adequately. I am indeed a very lucky woman to know all of you.
Fred, Sheik or whoever else is moderating, if you don't think that posting this is appropriate, please delete it. I'm still not sure myself if a public thank you is in good taste or not. But these people definitely deserve to be recognized in some way.
