Thanking the Police

Without being a total kiss ass i was just trying to figure out the most sutle way to thank a police officer. Yes i know he was just doing his job etc.. and i did Thank him at the scene but i just feel that wasnt good enough.

No silly comments guys like bring him donuts etc

I would bet that considering how many jerks the Police have to deal with, that someone being polite and cooperative, and saying thank you, probably made the officers day...Good Work

Put it in writing.

Write a letter to the cop thanking him. Send a copy to his supervisor.

Write a letter to his boss - the Superintendant of his division. You can get the Superintendant's name and the address of the station through the page Policing Operations Command - the division names in the right hand panel of this page are clickable and link to the division's blurb.

Doesn't have to be kiss-ass ... just "Dear Mr. Bigcopper, Today I had a problem and PC Littlecop was great. Love, Youngblood".

It'll make 'em both feel good, and maybe get you a comfy bench when you're taken in drunk and disorderly!
