Let’s all just say it.. lately the world sucks

I’m a very optimistic kind of mind, but 2019 to now it’s been the absolute worst. Nobody is human anymore. Walking around staring at the phones and posting about ourselves 247 like anybody gives a shit so we can boost our social rating..

When did it all change for you?
For me it’s 2007, I can remember how alive I felt and how connected everybody was. I would drive over to a friends place just to have drinks snd listen to music or watch the game. There wasn’t any added bullshit of what’s trending and what’s new in the house or the world etc..

We would talk about our lives and how we feel about things. Instead of showing off the latest dishwasher we just bought to further prove that we are a super slave to branding and corporate capitalization.

prices of food, drinks, living.. all very attainable

didn’t have to work 80+ hours just to exist

2007 gets my vote!

It never did change for me, because I never buy into things just because everyone else is doing it.

Times always change, sometimes for the better and sometimes not. Just the way it is. But I do agree that the past few years have been a shit show that IMO kind of got its start with Covid and got worse since then especially the current economic mess. Just something we have to live thru just like we did during the inflationary years of the late 1970's (I think) and early 1980's.

That’s what I mean, even some “bad years” I’ve found a silver lining

haven’t been able to do that in a while

That's when you spend an hour or 2 with your favorite SPs. The silver lining may be short lived but it will be memorable and will keep you distracted for a few days thinking about what she or they did to and for you.

I say 1977. Erosion set in in 1978(mild at first) and I was only 12, so missed the boat. Workplace pension chart even worse.
