For China there is an easy way out, get rid of Xi and blame him for everything then install someone new that at least on the surface is more amicable. Some deal with Russia, get rid of Putin, and put on a new face, that will go a long way to returning to business as usual.

Last time the people of China tried the easy way to get rid of their leaders
was 1989. Protesting students in Tiananmen Square at one point were
firing up demands of Deng Xiaoping and Li Peng to step down. Student
leader Chai Ling openly announced the people of China no longer recognized
Li Peng's regime. As it turned out it was a lot easer for the leaders to get
rid of the students.

Some deal with Russia, get rid of Putin, and put on a new face, that will go a long way to returning to business as usual.

This could happen if NATO can keep up with support of Zelensky's
Ukraine to fight to the last man. Chance is the longer the war drags
on the more Putin's power is eroded.
