For all you die hard hockey fans, I submit to you one reason why you should be pulling for the Red Wings. Carolina has male cheerleaders. Sure, I could talk about Stevie Y, tradition, original six, etc.. But male cheerleaders! They rank just below child molesters and disc jockeys on my hate list. Now the female cheerleaders, well, the one in the cowboy hat is hot.

Nice to see someone still interested in the playoffs CndGuy. Of course the weather has not been as "fair" as it was a couple of weeks ago. :p I see Shanahan breaking out tonight. If the Wings can win ugly again tonight, Game 5 will be the clincher. That said, the Canes have alot of heart. Should be another tough battle.

But will anyone even understand Hasek's retirement announcment.

I can imagine his retirement announcment going like this.

Reporter: "Now that you've won the Stanley Cup, will you keep playing or will you retire?"
Hasek: "Ikt kitititut!"
Reporter: "Pardon me?"
Hasek: "Aktasa saditk, Ikt retirickrierekt."
Reporter: "Ooookay! Does anyone know where Brett is?"

The funny thing is he speaks english and half the time I can't understand it. The only player that's worse is Yaromir Yagr. I know they're from the same country, but they have two totally different speach impediments. Yaromir says things like "ahreanro hahoroe hockey..."

It's a shame...

that the Stanley Cup Finals is anticlimactic so many years.

It seems that there's usually a longshot coming out of the East that is no match for the West. How exciting is it to watch clutch and grab teams with little talent try and slow down a superior opponent? I'm tired of watching Florida or Washington or Buffalo and now Carolina make the finals a joke. Did anyone notice how none of those other longshots even made the playoffs this year?

That, in itself, proves that none of them were worthy opponents at those times, just as Carolina is unworthy this year. They may have played hard, but dammit, they robbed me of my god-given right as a Canadian to have an exciting Stanley Cup.

Actually, the finals have not been all that bad. If Carolina was to have won on Saturday we would be looking at a best of three right now.

Each game has been close (save for last night).

If Carolina can prove next year that they are a proven contender then this year's play-off run for them may not be a fluke.

I remember back in '95 when NJ beat the Wings (they were big underdogs similar to Carolina). Since then NJ has always been a contender.

I was hoping nobody would bring that up since they are the one exception. But really, aside from NJ, who in the east has played well?

Even if Carolina could keep the series close, it's still dull, boring, plodding hockey. It's not fun to watch. Even the series against the Leafs, in which I would obviously have a very strong emotional attachment, I thought was boring hockey to watch.

The next question would be, if it's so bad, why do I keep watching. Force of habit, I guess.
