The Snuggery: Woman hopes to make a living cuddling you for $60 an hour

Twenty nine year-old New Yorker, Jackie Samuel, saw a need and then started a business to fulfill it. Samuel opened "The Snuggery" in her Penfield home, a place where clients can cuddle with her for $60 an hour.

"The Snuggery is a place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and focus on the simple restorative pleasure of touch. Though science has unquestionably supported the psychological and physical benefits of non-sexual touch, Americans distinctly lack it. It's time for change," Samuel writes on The Snuggery's official site.

Samuel's cuddling sessions are nudity- and sex-free. She insists that cuddling is about relaxation and physical touch and isn't sexual in nature. Friends and family are always present in her home to offer her protection if needed.

"Although sexual activity is not permitted, arousal is perfectly normal and should not make anyone feel uncomfortable," she writes.

"You feel more calm for days afterward," the University of Rochester graduate and current master's student claims. "It has numerous health benefits."

Samuel lists some of those health benefits in an interview with the Henrietta Post:

"It lowers blood pressure," she says. "If you're comfortable with touch, it can reduce your cortisol levels, and most studies show that when they have a reduction of cortisol levels, they're immune system is stronger. Cuddling can also increase your seratonin and oxytocin levels, which help you to feel calmer and more relaxed."

Samuel is currently working without a licence because there's isn't one for her niche company.

"I thought, I need to kind of validate my position," Samuel tells KGO-TV. "I need some kind of certification or license to show I'm a qualified cuddler, but I couldn't find anybody else who was doing what I was doing so I decided to just start."

Research supports Samuel's belief in the power of touch. Click here for five health-related reasons to cuddle.

Would you consider paying someone to cuddle with you? Or is that going too far?

There was an asian girl on CL a few years back advertising that you could come over to her place and watch porn with her, but that clothes would stay on and no sex would happen. I never did give it a try.

$60/hr in NYC? She would have to be an octopus to make a decent living on that wage. I can't imagine hugging for 40 hours a week.

This reminds me of the woman that went on Dragons Den to ask for money to set up nap nooks on big office buildings so that people could come in and pay to take a nap.

In the past things like this have been tried.

I remember on city tv they had that show sex tv and they did a segment on cuddling. Where people would get together and just cuddle.

I get it, I can see why people would want it but without a release it just wouldn't be worth it for me.

That's a brilliant idea -- but probably too much ahead of its time.

British humorist Paul Jennings wrote a piece called Sleep for Sale, which proposed the same thing - in 1959. Now, there are Capsule Hotels (see wiki). So, concept proposed fifty years ago -- now in operation.

That's my view as well. After a session with her, I would be absolutely desperate for a release. May as well see a MPA or SP from the outset.

I realize I'm probably missing the point of what this lady offers.

Out of curiosity - are there any ladies in the GTA who offer this sort of service?

An hour of coitus for 250 or roughly 4 hours of cuddling. I think the cuddling might just win, I could just jerk off afterwords. Unless money was unlimited that is.
I would say 100% cuddling and 0% coitus but it would be more the former. Fuck if I will pay a chick 60 bucks to sit on my lap and fondle her for 10 minutes at the nudie bar, and hour of cuddling does not look to bad.

Granted my finances are limited and I do have the case of the touch craving.

this would make a killing on sexually impotent people alone ( not to mention germaphobes and would be cheaters with guilt complexes).....definitely a niche for that service.

Would the cuddling include fondling, squeezing and kissing? I don't think that would be described as sex. I would pony up $60 if those were included.
