Yeah, I just read that now too. It seems that he expects to still qualify for the Olympics based on who he is. I am very doubtful of this, because if he is let in despite withdrawing from the trials, it will probably send an uproar from many athletes and officials, and it will defeat the very purpose of the trials. And what will happen to the Jamaican sprinter who came 3rd in the finals if Bolt is allowed in based on who he is? Won't he protest too, since only 3 can represent a country?
I should also add that in the Jamaican 100m finals, the second fastest man in history Yohan Blake was disqualified for a false start (yes, for those who don't know, a false start means that you are automatically out, unlike the old days where you got a second chance). He actually got the red card. But then there was an uproar from the stadium who believe that he didn't false start. The officials pondered over the situation for several minutes, and for the first time ever (as far as I know), the disqualification was retracted, and Blake was put back in the track. In the end, Blake won the final and will be going to Rio (without Bolt). With an uproar from fans apparently able to influence the officials, I now wonder if Bolt will be let in the Olympics if the entire world simply demands that he be allowed in.
